The Lancers earned a huge win over the Algonquin Thunder Wednesday night in Ottawa.

The now 3-3 Lancers trailed by a small margin through the first half of the game until fifth year veteran Jenni Thompson lit it up in the third quarter.
Thompson alone outscored the Thunder in the third, recording 14 of the Lancers 24 points to the Thunder’s 13 to take the lead 55-52 heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was a tight one and never saw more than a 2 point spread between the teams. With the game tied at 62 with 35 seconds left, Thompson attacked the basket but Thunder defense denied her the shot & forced the ball out of the red-hot shooters hand. Thompson found wide open second year Lancer Erin Cassibo who didn’t disappoint & hit the game winning shot to give the Lancers the 65-62 final  and their 3rd win of the season.

Thompson was at the top of her game and made some big shots and clutch times for her team. Recording 34 points and 19 rebounds in the game, Thompson was the leading scorer for both teams. Teammate & fellow veteran Katie Wiggins also had an impressive offensive showing. Wiggins recorded 17 points & 4 rebounds that helped push her team to the win.

The Lancers take on Algonquin again November 28th at home where they’ll look to make it two wins over the Thunder in the semester.
