The Lancers broke their win streak with a 3-2 loss to the Algonquin Thunder in Ottawa Friday night.

After falling 25-23 in a hard fought first set battle, the Lancers battled back to win the second (25-19) and the fourth (25-23) to force a fifth & deciding set.

Troubles on serve receive plagued the Lancers all game and despite a 8 point push late in the set, they couldn’t quite manage to pull out the win, stopping their win streak at 7 and leaving them with a 7-1 record.

Outside hitter Sara Piana Yafu recorded 20 kills,1 ace and 2 blocks in the loss while Emilie Leneveu had 8 kills, 1 ace and 1. First year setter Lorraine Spellman contributed 4 aces to the loss.

Looking to get themselves back on track, the Lady Lancers rolled over the La Cite Coyotes in a quick 3-0 win.

The Lancers got off to a slow start but finished the first set strong, taking a 25-21 win and gaining the momentum heading into the second set.

Showing that killer instinct that has been a big part of their success this year, the Lancers came back with a vengeance and took the next two sets 25-16 & 25-13 to complete the sweep.

Piana Yafu racked up another 18 kills, 2 aces & 1 block with teammate Christine Madogo contributing 9 kills, 2 aces & 3 blocks. Second year player Janessa Duffy stepped up in a huge way for the Lancers, playing impeccable defense and dominating the serve receive.

The Lancers play their final game of the first half  Friday night in Peterborough against the Fleming Knights.
