MVB | TOUGH FIRST HALF

The Lancers were unable to add a second win to their record against the Fleming Knights in their final game before the break.

Going into the game with a 1-7 record, the Lancers looked to be fairly evenly matched against the 1-6 Knights. However, offensive struggles continued for the Lancers and despite close scores, they were swept 3 straight.

With the first half of the season behind them, the Lancers look to regain their footing for January and maintain a more consistent level of play. Veteran player Josh Roberts has been steady for the Lancers all season, leading the team in kills (81), total points (97), and aces (11). As one of the most vocal players on the court, Roberts competes with a passion that is evident to everyone in attendance. He supports his teammates with inspired defense in the back row and plays far bigger than his 5’10 stature at the net.

Connor McAdams has grown as a player exponentially in the first 3 months of the season. After coming into the team with minimal experience in the middle position in the 2016 season, McAdams has worked closely with the coaching staff to get himself to where he is. With 12 stuff blocks on the season, his speed, footwork and blocking technique are coming together well to help slow down the Lancers’ opponents.

The Lancers will take part in the Fleming Knights’ tournament over the Christmas break before getting back into league play on January 13th against the George Brown Huskies.
