In their first game of 2018, the women’s volleyball team earned a convincing 3-0 win over the visiting George Brown Huskies.
Starting the set with an 8-1 lead, the Lancers’ cruised to a 25-9 set win with consistent serve receive and smart offence.
Taking 25-15 wins in the second and third set, the Lancers rolled over the Huskies in straight sets in a true team win that saw every member of the team contribute to the score.
Defensively, Jodie Mitchell kept the team together in the backcourt while the ever dominant Sara Piana Yafu led the team offensively with 17 points (13 kills, 4 aces).
In the third and final set of the game, the Lancers funneled the majority of their points through the middle of the court. Stand out middles Christine Madogo and Emilie Leneveu accounted for 7 of the Lancers 14 kills in the set and combined for 15 points throughout the game.
With this win under their belts, the Lancers look to continue on an impressive 9-1 season when they face the Seneca Sting on the road on Wednesday January 17.
