The men’s volleyball team got off to a rocky start to the second half of their season in a 3-1 loss to the George Brown Huskies at home on Saturday.

Despite a close first set the Lancers never managed to pull away from the Huskies and dropped 25-22 to trail 1-0.  After losing the second set 25-18, the home team turned it around and came out swinging to avoid the sweep and won the third set battle 26-24.

The fourth set was all Huskies as they stopped the Lancers’ attempt at a comeback with a 25-15 win to take the game 3-1.

Despite the outcome, the Lancers showed a great deal of improvement from their last regular season game. The team played with a sense of determination and confidence that powered them through long rallies and tough matchups. New addition to the team Mark Wikkerink came through for the Lancers in a big way, contributing 16 kills, 1 ace and 1 block for a game high 18 points. Lancer setter Gabe Van Allen added 2 aces to the match while veteran Joe Bresee showed off his skills as a libero.

Next up for the Lancers are the Seneca Sting on the road Wednesday January 24.
