The men’s volleyball battled back to win a hard fought, 5 set match against the Algonquin Thunder on Friday night.

After dropping the first two sets 16-25 and 19-25, the scrappy Lancers avoided the loss with a dominating wins in the third (25-13) and fourth (25-15) sets. With the momentum shifted to their side, the home team controlled the fifth set with great passing off the serve receive, tough serving and smart attacks.  The Lancers showcased a dynamic offense that stunned the Thunder’s defense and forced scrambled plays, giving the Lancers the edge and pushing them to a 15-11 5th set victory to take the game 3-2.

Outside hitter Joe Bresee led the Lancers in scoring with 15 kills and an ace while setter Gabe Van Allen contributed 5 aces.

The Lancers play the second game of their weekend double header on Saturday when they take on the La Cite Coyotes (6-8).
