The Lancers earned some redemption against the Algonquin Thunder at home on Friday night. Having suffered their only loss of the season to the Thunder in first semester, the Lancers looked to make a statement & redeem themselves.

Coming out of the gates strong, the Lancers secured a 25-20 first set victory before rolling through a 25-11 second set to go up 2-0. The Thunder came back with a vengeance in their third and pulled out a close 25-23 win to push set 4. The Lancers got back on track and earned their way to a 25-19 win to take the game 3-1 and improve their record to 14-1.

In a true team effort, the Lancers had multiple stand out players including first year setter Lorraine Spellman. Spellman’s ability to generate an effective offence from anywhere on the court resulted in an impressive 50 assets in the game while also contributing 4 aces.

Third year middle Emilie Leneveu added 14 points of her own (3 blocks and 11 kills) while libero Raven Maracle controlled the back court with consistent & aggressive passing.

The team’s leading scorer, Sara Piana Yafu led the game with 24 total points in the match – 22 of which were kills.

The Lancers are back in action Saturday when they host the La Cite Coyotes at 1pm.
