Christine Madogo (women’s volleyball) & Alex Cox (men’s volleyball) have been named Lancer Athletes of the Week.

Christine Madogo has been a huge part of the women’s volleyball team’s success all season. Her speed and jumping abilities combine to make her one of the most dominant blockers in the league. A second year architecture student, Madogo leads the OCAA in total blocks (52), is second in blocks per set (0.81) and third for the same stat in the country.

In the Lancers’ game against the Durham Lords on Feb. 10th, Madogo contributed 18 points to the team’s 3-1 win.  The 5’9 middle recorded 12 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks for a career high performance to help keep her team at the top of the East standings.

Madogo added another 10 points to her stats against the Centennial Colts Wednesday night in the team’s second loss of the season with 6 kills and 4 blocks.

Like Madogo, Alex Cox turned in a top performance against the Durham Lords on Saturday.

Cox, a second year outside hitter, recorded 10 kills, 2 aces and 7 digs in the game for total of 12 points. Committing 0 offensive errors in the game, Cox’s offensive control and ability to make smart shots to avoid the block played a big role in the team’s battle against the Lords. Despite ending on the wrong side of a hard fought 5 set loss, Cox and his team played a great game against the 9-9 Lords.
