The women’s volleyball team dropped their first game since November Wednesday night at the Lancerdome.
In a tight 4 set battle with the Centennial Colts, the Lancers earned a second set win but were unable to stop the Colts for the win.
The second place Colts have an automatic bye into next week’s OCAA championships as host, while the Lancers, who finished the season in first place in the east divisions, will play a single playoff game for entry to the championship.
The Lancers stood tough on serve receive against the Colts and put up an impressive 14 blocks in the match.
Third year middle Emilie Leneveu lead the Lancers in scoring with 11 kills and 7 blocks for an 18 point performance while league leader Sara Piana Yafu recorded 15 kills and a block.
Before the game, the Lancers honoured their graduating athletes for their time and commitment to the team.
Christine Madogo, Emilie Leneveu, Sara Piana Yafu, Alicia Orsborne, Tristan Estabrooks and Janessa Duffy all received recognition.
The Lancers are set to match up against the West’s 7th place Cambrian Golden Shield for a winner takes all playoff match. The game takes place in the Lancerdome, Saturday February 17th at 1pm.
