The women’s volleyball team took a convincing 3-0 win over the Cambrian Golden Shield in a winner takes all play off game Saturday in the Lancerdome.

In an epic first set battle, the Lancers edged out the Golden Shield 28-26 with consistency from the service line and smart offensive shots.
From there, the Lancers stepped up their game even more and kept the Shield under 20 points in the next two sets to take a 3-0 victory and send the team to the Provincial Championships in Toronto.

Hannah Dossett recorded an outstanding 10 kills on 17 attempts with no errors and added 3 aces to the win for a total of 13 points.

League scoring champion Sara Piana Yafu continued to impress with an array of offensive shots that couldn’t be stopped. The third year outside hitter contributed 17 points (16 kills & an ace) and 11 digs in the match.
Back in the lineup for the Lancers was second year libero, Jodie Mitchell. Having recorded 12 defensive digs in the win, it was Mitchell’s consistency on the serve receive that turned up clutch for the home team.

With the win, the Lancers advance to the OCAA Provincial Championships, hosted by Centennial College Feb. 22-24th, where they meet the Sheridan Bruins in the first round in Thursday.
