Lancers’ Gwen Forrester Named to OCAA Student-Athlete Committee
Loyalist College's own Gwen Forrester, a third-year member of the Lancers women's basketball team, has been selected to the OCAA Student-Athlete Committee for the 2025–26 season.
This year's committee saw over 25 strong applications from across Ontario, with only a small group of student-athletes chosen to represent their peers. After a competitive review process, Gwen earned her place among this talented and diverse group, joining 14 other student-athletes from colleges across the province.
The OCAA Student-Athlete Committee plays a vital role in shaping the student-athlete experience across Ontario. Its members are tasked with advocating for their peers, sparking meaningful conversations, and leading initiatives that strengthen varsity culture. From amplifying athlete voices to promoting collaboration between schools, the committee continues to grow in both visibility and impact.
"We're so proud of Gwen" says Cristy Latham, Director of Athletics & Recreation. "She's an excellent person for this role- a great leader and role model for her peers and someone who will bring varsity experience and value to the committee. Gwen truly reflects what it means to be a Loyalist Lancer, and we're excited to see the impact she'll make across the OCAA."
As a guard on the women's basketball team, Gwen has already shown herself to be a determined competitor and respected teammate. Now, she will bring that same drive and leadership off the court, ensuring that Lancers — and student-athletes across the OCAA — have a strong and passionate voice in the conversations that matter most.
With the 2025–26 season approaching, the committee is set to begin its work on projects and initiatives that will impact student-athletes across Ontario. Loyalist fans and teammates can look forward to seeing Gwen play a key role in advocacy, collaboration, and student-led change throughout the year.
Congratulations, Gwen, on this well-deserved honour!
