Women's Basketball Makes History with A Perfect Season & Division Title
The Loyalist Lancers women's basketball team closed out their regular season in unforgettable fashion, defeating the Algonquin Wolves on Friday night in Ottawa to officially complete the first perfect season in program history. The win locked up first place in the OCAA East Division, securing home‑court advantage to begin the playoffs. The Lancers will host the West Division's 8th‑place Redeemer Royals on in their cross-over qualifying match on Saturday, February 21st at 1:00 PM.
With an undefeated record, a powerful combination of veteran leadership and emerging talent, and one of the strongest defensive units in the province, the Lancers head into the postseason as one of the top contenders in the league.
Men's Basketball Finishes Strong With Weekend Sweep & Record-Breaking Performance
The men's basketball team capped off the regular season with a pair of big road wins in Ottawa, taking down the Algonquin Wolves on Friday and the La Cité Coyotes on Saturday to finish at 11–7.
Fifth year league veteran, Romain McCalla is officially the all-time single season points leader for the Loyalist Lancers men's basketball program. After dropping 18 vs Algonquin on Friday and an absolutely unreal 52-point performance Saturday against La Cité, McCalla finished the regular season with 461 points, crushing the previous record of 427 points from the '04-05 season.
The Lancers enter playoffs riding a seven‑game win streak, making them one of the hottest teams in the OCAA heading into crossover play.
They'll look to extend that momentum when they travel to Lambton College to take on the Lions on Sunday, February 22nd in Sarnia.
Men's Volleyball Advances to Quarterfinals After Home Playoff Victory
The men's volleyball team had a huge win on Saturday, winning their hard-earned, home crossover playoff match against the Mohawk Mountaineers 3-1. The Lancers played consistent, aggressive volleyball that kept them in control the majority of the match and earning their way into the next round.
The game marked the first time in recent memory that the Lancers hosted, and won, a men's volleyball playoff game, marking a major step forward for the program.
They'll travel to Sudbury to take on the West Divison's 1st‑place Cambrian Golden Shield on Sunday, February 22nd. A win would send the Lancers to the Final Four, a testament to the team's resilience, growth, and belief in each other throughout the season.
With multiple teams entering the postseason on high notes, it's shaping up to be an unforgettable February for the Lancers.
