Bio

Cristy Latham joined Loyalist College as Director of Athletics and Recreation in 2023, bringing a wealth of experience and vision to the department. With a background as a Physical and Health Education teacher and Athletics Director in both public and private secondary schools, Cristy’s leadership is grounded in expertise and a deep passion for student success.

As Director, Cristy is responsible for shaping the future of varsity athletics and recreation at Loyalist. She oversees the development and implementation of comprehensive programs, supports student engagement in recreational and competitive environments, and manages the daily operations of staffing and planning. Additionally, she ensures the smooth operation of athletic facilities, including the fitness center, gym, and fields, while setting strategic goals and policies to continuously enhance programs. Central to her role is building connections with students to ensure they feel supported, valued, and empowered.

A lifelong athlete, Cristy’s sports journey began in competitive soccer, basketball, and volleyball. She went on to play basketball at McGill University for two years, earn her Master's degree and amass 17 years of coaching experience across multiple sports, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, and cross-country at the U14 to U18 levels.

Cristy is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where all students can thrive. She champions the principles of safe sport and diversity and inclusion, working to inspire participation and engagement through innovative and student-centered initiatives.

Beyond her professional life, Cristy is an avid traveler, reader, and culinary enthusiast who delights in discovering new experiences and flavors.
