Bio
Ivan Kaliaiev, assistant coach for the Loyalist Lancers men's basketball team, brings a wealth of international basketball experience to the program. Originally from Ukraine, Ivan had an impressive professional playing career, competing for clubs such as BC "Khimik" Yuzhne, BC "DUEP" Dnipro, BC "Sumykhimprom" Sumy, BC "Volynbasket" Lutsk, BC "Gomel-Sozh" Gomel, and BC "Grodno-93" Grodno. Passionate about all things sport, athlete development and wellbeing, Coach Kaliaiev earned his Masters of Sports in his home country before moving to Canada.
Since transitioning to coaching in 2020, Ivan has continued to build on his deep knowledge of the game. He spent two years as an assistant coach with BC "Grodno-93" before joining the Loyalist Lancers in 2024. His coaching philosophy emphasizes teamwork and discipline, stressing the importance of playing cohesively on both ends of the court. Ivan firmly believes that a disciplined approach can overcome talent, a mindset he instills in his players.
