The Loyalist Lancers Men's Volleyball team has wrapped up an impressive 2025–26 campaign, finishing their postseason run in the OCAA Quarterfinals after a hard‑earned battle against the West Division's first‑place Cambrian Golden Shield. Though the Lancers ultimately fell short, the matchup showcased the team's grit, growth, and rising status within the province.
This year marked a significant turning point for the program. For the first time in recent history, the Lancers hosted a home qualifer match and secured a crossover victory, earning their spot in the quarterfinals. With a mix of veteran anchors and emerging young talent, the team made tremendous strides and set a new standard for Loyalist men's volleyball.
Facing the top‑ranked Cambrian squad on their home court in Sudbury in Quarter Finals, the Lancers delivered a determined performance, pushing the Shield with aggressive serving, steady ball control, and composed play at the net. Despite the final result, the Lancers showed they belong among the OCAA's top programs.
The match capped a season defined by steady improvement, exceptional teamwork, and breakthrough victories.
The Lancers' success this season was reflected in the OCAA's end‑of‑year awards, with two athletes earning major honours:
- Liam Hill — OCAA East Division Second Team All‑Star
-
A well-rounded player who's shown major growth throughout his carrer, Hill's athleticism, consistency, and leadership were key to the team's success. His recognition is well‑deserved after a season of standout performances on the outside.
-
- Jacob Diefenbach — OCAA East Division Second Team All‑Star & East Division All‑Rookie Team
- In his debut season, Diefenbach was nothing short of outstanding. As a rookie right side, he became one of Loyalist's most reliable and explosive attackers. Earning two awards, including a spot on the prestigious All‑Rookie Team, highlights the bright future ahead for both Diefenbach and the program.
From securing a home playoff game to reaching the quarterfinals, to seeing multiple athletes recognized at the league level, the 2025–26 season marks one of the most successful in recent Lancer men's volleyball history.
With key returners, strong leadership, and growing interest from new recruits, the future of Loyalist Men's Volleyball is brighter than ever.
Congratulations to our athletes, coaching staff, and supporters on a memorable season.
