The Loyalist women's basketball team secured a hard-fought victory over the Seneca Sting with a final score of 62-56 at Seneca's King Campus on October 29, 2024. Loyalist showed resilience throughout the game, overcoming a close first half to outpace Seneca in the fourth quarter.
Offensive efforts were led by third year Lancer, Grace Callahan, who scored a game-high 12 points along with 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Fellow veteran team members Jessyka Maliksi and Brooklyn White contributed significant points, scoring 12 and 10 respectively. The team's efficient free-throw shooting, especially in the fourth quarter (66.7%), helped to maintain their lead in the final minutes.
The Lancers capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 15 points off rebounds compared to Seneca's 8, giving the team the edge they needed to seal the victory.
Despite Seneca's slightly better field goal percentage in the game, Loyalist's depth and consistent bench support were key factors, with 28 points coming from their reserves.
The Lancers look to make it three wins in a row when they are back in action at home on Saturday, November 2nd agaist the George Brown Huskies.
