Lancers Add Experienced Setter Julia Koksanowicz to Women’s Volleyball Program
The Loyalist Lancers are proud to announce that Julia Koksanowicz has joined the women's volleyball program for the upcoming season.
A 5'4" setter from Hamilton, Ontario, Koksanowicz brings a wealth of experience to the Lancers after an accomplished playing career at both the club and postsecondary levels. She developed her game at Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School before competing with Hamilton Smash Volleyball Club at multiple age levels (13U, 15U, 17U, and 18U), as well as a season with the Ancaster Lions. Her early success earned her opportunities to represent Team Hamilton at the CANUSA Games for two consecutive years and a selection to the High School All-Star Game in 2019.
Koksanowicz continued her volleyball career at Redeemer University, where she spent four seasons competing in the OCAA from 2021 to 2025. During her time there, she balanced high-level competition with academic success, earning the OCAA All-Academic Award (2024–2025) and the Redeemer University Most Improved Player Award (2025). Her list of accolades also includes the Hamilton Smash Leadership Award (13U), two OVA MVP Awards (13U, 15U), Co-ed Volleyball MVP (2019), and High School All-Star selection (2019).
In addition to her playing experience, Koksanowicz has demonstrated strong leadership off the court. This past season, she served as an assistant coach with Niagara Rapids Volleyball Club, working with both 15U and 18U teams. The season concluded successfully, highlighted by a strong finish from the 15U squad and a silver medal performance at the Ontario Provincials for the 18U team.
Koksanowicz's decision to join Loyalist was driven by both academic and athletic opportunities. She will be enrolling in the Medical Radiation Technology program, an accelerated pathway that aligns closely with her long-term career goals, while continuing to compete at the OCAA level.
Away from volleyball, Koksanowicz enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active, and being outdoors. She is also passionate about animals and enjoys creative hobbies such as crafting.
With her experience, skill set, and commitment to growth, Koksanowicz adds depth and leadership to the Lancers lineup. The program looks forward to her impact as she represents the red and blue in the upcoming season.
